(Re)creation
Cassi Joy, 2024

(Re)creation is a mural inside the Snowy Range Visitor Center vault bathroom in the Medicine Bow National Forest. The artist responded to Visit Laramie’s Cowboy Code of Ethics for responsible recreation.

From the artist:

My mural features a western bumblebee pollinating Wyoming wildflowers, as well as a hiker and dog in the mountains. These elements are all connected by a vibrant ribbon of color to symbolize how our actions can impact the environment. The title (Re)creation reflects the vital role of pollinators in sustaining our ecosystem. Just as the bee visits flowers but leaves them better than it found them, we too can have a positive impact on our surroundings. Through responsible recreation we can actively participate in the “re-creation” and preservation of our natural world.
